If the one carrying the baby does not contribute DNA to the offspring then evolution has no reason keep the carrier alive. You'd end up with wasps. They lay a fertilized egg inside a paralysed host. The hatchling eats the host alive from the inside.

Theres also a version where, the male has his balls changed to produce another male's sperm. Meaning the male is the carrier. Its called spermicidal_takeover
