I'm a casual I guess, I mostly play Cyberpunk 2077 and BG3.
Are there any other games out there worth a shit? Everything seems tied to online purchasing and "live services" these days so it doesn't even seem worth playing half of the releases out there.

I play a lot of modded minecraft, with a focus on tech modpacks.

Sometimes I play survival crafting games like Ark:survival evolved, or space engineers, or 7 days to die.

I might get slay the spire 2 when it drops. Slay the spire 1 was a pretty good game.

Most of what I play is old games, because your not wrong, many newer games suck. They cost too much, have too much dlc, are live service and won't run without always online, collect your data, want to censor you or push ideologies, so on.

Its also hard to be excited about games anymore, when you don't really own them anymore. The world of endless updates can take your ownship away at any time.

Take minecraft for instance. When I bought minecraft in alpha/beta, you could play it indefinably without connecting to the internet or Microsoft. Back then notch even told poor kids to pirate the game if they couldn't afford it.

People act like steam is the unsung hero of gaming. But Steam started this mess of digital only. And people that think if steam goes under its going to remove all DRM as its final action are delusional.

I've bought games on steam in a state I loved, the game keeps updating and one day an update happens i hate. I want to go back to and old version, the version i paid for and its gone.

When I heard gaben say that he was glad competition from epic games helped keep steam honest. That means steam was thinking or tempted to be a piece of shit to its customers.

If buying isn't owning, copying isn't stealing!
