Every time I would see this particular drawing, I could not help but be reminded of a very specific episode of the old 1980s animated Punky Brewster cartoon – episode title was "The Shoe Must Go On."

Cherie wants a new pair of dancing shoes for a dancing contest and Glomer uses magic to create a pair that causes her to dance without any effort on her part. However, a mean girl, Leonora Crump, steals the shoes so she could win a dancing contest. The gang chase Leonora through the city in order for Cherie to reclaim her shoes. Leonora's dancing goes out of control, and ends up dancing through water in a fountain, and surrenders the shoes back to Cherie. Cherie puts on the shoes, but dissolved quickly afterwards after the fountain incident. Disappointed, she ended up walking home barefoot. Later, Cherie realizes that she is naturally a good dancer, as she is dancing with more suitable footwear.
