Thanksgiving is great. Such an American holiday: just eat a bunch of food, maybe get drunk, and fight your family over politics. And the icing on the cake - or rather the whipped cream on the pie - is non-Americans are clueless about any of this. I was watching a YouTube video by a British dude talking about how most of his life he thought Thanksgiving was just what Americans called Christmas! They don't even know about pumpkin pie or pecan pie over there! Or the great pumpkin vs sweet potato pie debate. Sweet potatoes go in sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top, duh. I mean, I personally don't eat sweets anymore, but I've tried all these things in the past.
My favorite side is squash casserole, the way my mom makes it. It was keto before keto was a thing. Just yellow squash, onion, butter, eggs, salt, and pepper.
