To clarify, I know what they both actually are. But they both appear to be rules of what to do/not do, but I never really see them used together.
The Commandments are rules. They're things you're supposed to do or not do.
The 7 Deadly Sins are qualities, not rules, that lead a person to a life of sin. Greed and envy will lead you to break the commandment that says thou shalt not covet. Wrath will lead you to break the commandment that says thou shalt not kill, so on and so forth.
On the flipside of the Seven Deadly Sins actually exists Seven Heavenly Virtues, that were created as a response not too long after. The opposite of Lust is Chastity/Purity. The opposite of Greed is Charity. The opposite of Pride is Humility etc.
