Windows has added some new and interesting features… and by interesting I mean spyware.

Dev Home is a new developer's kit that uses "Co-pilot" the windows version of chatGPT to "help you code" while also spying on everything you do even when you aren't coding or using copilot.

To uninstall it you have to run Windows Powershell as an admin and type in the following line:

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.devhome* | Remove-AppxPackage

That should uninstall the package. You can't uninstall it in the settings like a normal program.

Also you'll probably want to uninstall Co-pilot which is it's own ordeal. Depending on which version of windows 11 you have it may need extra steps.

The long and the short of it is that you'll need to use the Group Policy Editor.

This method is available for Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education editions.

Open gpedit.msc (Usually in C:\Windows\System32\gpedit.msc)

Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Copilot in the Group Policy Editor.

Double-click on "Turn off Windows Copilot" and select "Enabled" to remove Copilot entirely.

Restart your computer.

If you have Windows 11 Home you'll have to enable gpedit.msc

You can find detailed instructions on creating a .bat file which will enable it here:

What if there was a neural network revolution where people could just basically create their own apps and sites but better, for example; Youtube, Twitter, and deviant art but what are the downsides?

Reminds me of the "program generator" idea back from the dawn of the microcomputer age. Programs like The Last One would supposedly ask non programmers questions about what they wanted their program to do. Questions starting very general and becoming more and more specific until the generator had enough information to create the program.

Those generators never worked back then. In fact, the creator of The Last One earned far more money as a consultant guiding people through using the generator than he ever did from selling his program generator.

That's the fantasy Microsoft is trying to sell people. They need to spy on everything you do so they can learn their user's habits and what people are coding so that one day anyone can be a coder…

Only what's actually happening is that they are using your data to train their A.I. to sell you stuff and using your CPU to process requests as if your computer is part of their network. They want you and your computer working for them for free.
