Furry Artists: "Hey! I'm gonna increase my commission prices cuz some Russian artists are getting paid $1200 per character in an orgy image, and I want to be paid an assload for my shitting dicknipple art too!".

Anyone see the collision-course here?

Maybe because they can. Russian artists are skilled because art takes an important space in their education.

No.3514687

The overpriced artists are going to have to lower their prices due to decreased demand. It's not a collision course, it's normal market forces.

furry commissions are a luxury good
furry is a pay to participate fandom and if poor people get fucked there is no collision course, they can just fuck off back to their hovels and leave the real players to it.

>>3514687
this assumes they follow the normal rules of supply and demand for a commodity.
the reality is richfurs will pay whatever price you slap on your junk provided you, the seller, are the right person. being a popufur artist or otherwise in the right social circles is like having a popular brand name. your shit could hypothetically be mass-manufactured with ease, but you're just going to twat it up with a supreme logo and a $500 price-tag for a $5 standard brick with your name on it.

Art is a luxury good. While all the facts you stated are true, you left out the part where the comfortably rich have more money to burn on luxury goods.

No.3514757

>>3514712
No it's not a luxury. People identifies as their character or fursona and doesn't have the privilege of being able to draw their fursona realistically.
There is no furry market, there should be an understanding that commissioners (artists) needs people to create for those who can't, and ensure this is affordable, there are artists and not even popular ones who bring prices over $100 per color drawing and this is plain wrong.
Furries need artwork done and there's no reason to overcharge something, or you have no place in the community first if you encourage the fandom to be elitist.

I think students have more important things to learn in class than drawing fussed artworks, also it's Russia, they have much more strictness, and this is also wrong. What you enjoy is years of elitism in schools, just like when you see an amazing art it's because an artist had the chance to have mom and dad pay for their art classes. Quality does not means value of art, but effort, if I would compare you cannot blame someone of being poor because they had no money to take courses in some high tech job!

Everybody can learn to draw. You just have to do it for hours daily.
You want your fursona drawn, but you don't want to learn drawing and you don't even want to work for money to get it drawn? What do you bring to the community you seems to wish existed, then?

There are no freeloaders in self sufficient communes (which you no doubt admire), why should there be in furry?

There's high probabilities you have hands and eyes, learn to draw (hundred of hours of work) or go flip some more burgers somewhere for a few hours only to afford your next murrsona pic.

>People identifies as their character or fursona and doesn't have the privilege of being able to draw their fursona realistically.

don't see why that stops it being a luxury. identity is a commodity like any other in modern market society.

>There is no furry market,

you bring money, someone else brings goods or services, the two are exchanged and we refer to this exchange as a market.

>there should be an understanding that commissioners (artists) needs people to create for those who can't, and ensure this is affordable, there are artists and not even popular ones who bring prices over $100 per color drawing and this is plain wrong.

the only affordable price is $0. anything else creates an insurmountable barrier to entry for some people or nations. then there's the fun flipside: every penny you take out of a commission price is a penny you take out of the artist's pocket. now sure trust fund kids can afford to do art for $1 (still ensuring that half the world are priced out because lol! exchange rates.), but normal people've gotta eat. now, while you've got the price capped at $0 you can regard the whole thing as entertainment - a hobby, for fun. the minute you put a price on it, you've turned it into a marketplace. work.

>Furries need artwork done

they could always read and write stories, writing is good and you can do it even if you're so poor your only computer is an IBM 5150 dragged out of a skip. maybe we could even do worldbuilding and appreciate characters for their personalities instead of their looks and oh wait no drifting off into fantasy DISREGARD.

>and there's no reason to overcharge something, or you have no place in the community first if you encourage the fandom to be elitist.

the only fair price is what people will hand over for something. you can either have a pure hobbyist community where everything is done for free, or you can have a marketplace. furry decided that the dollar speaks louder than community more than a decade ago. the fandom is inherently elitist, markets are inherently elitist.

Being insane and getting away with it (being a furry) is a luxury. Under other circumstances, these people would get the shit slapped out of them and told to get real.

as an accountant and HR consultant/analyst, i would like to develop and establish a payslip fr you to understand precisely how the freelance should be rewarded for his job; including all the legally appliable deductions. We should make it, as I'm jus testing the French Payroll system in PeopleSoft.

Congratulations Phyllis Goodway you are now an employer. Now I need to find people willing to work for you. I will be kind, me.

I need to make a demo of the GlobalPayroll and Absence Management for Monday all well configured with the URSSAF AGIRC/ARRCO and other ASSEDICS, CSG all this shit. so hey it's good to have examples!
Some will be paid a lump sum, others a base salary. Let's see how many cyustomers there will be for the fandom to work with an affordable art for all.

I don't care about commissions, any artist can charge what they want. If people are stupid enough to waste their money ( rich or not ) - That's on them.

I hate patreon and what it did this community. It turned a bunch of artist who had zero issues sharing 99% of their stuff to their fans, who often in-turn got commissions from them. Instead become a giant gated wall, that 99% of their artist where nuked and moved there hidden behind monthly fees. While still doing commissions, though now for only the top %1.

Leaving everyone else with giant patreon logos everywhere and shitty "This one picture has 30 different versions on patreon please pay me 50 bucks a month to see them."

Pathetic really.

The term "artist" also supposes some kind of higher elitist class, as the adequate term is graphics worker.
A graphic worker has the role to serve the community or face banishment or sanctions.

No.3515035

>>3515032
graphics worker turns it into a job though. ideally in some imaginary ideal world where invisible hands weren't determined to drill the humanity out of us and sell it back to us a poorly-fitting pound at a time with no regard for how much of it the drilling destroys in the process, furry would be a hobby and not work.

but since we don't live in that world and it is work, the devil's advocate argument goes that furry does have an elitist class. the problem isn't that artists aren't elevated above others, but that we've got no equal term to elevate the other half of the upper-furry-class to the same status.
