The complaints are wrong there, because they're looking at the lever ass-backwards and claiming it "amplifies" the muscle effort:

>>comparing it to lifting 300 kg is disingenuous – you don't lift directly with your muscles, it goes through the same lever amplification.

It's actually the other way around. The tendons in your limbs aren't "wired" to amplify force, but to increase the range of motion for the muscles that can only contract so much. That results in a loss of force, or seen the other way, increase in the apparent weight that the muscle feels when you're trying to lift something. The tendons really are transmitting forces equivalent to multiple times your body weight, which is why you won't walk a mile with your knees bent - try it, I dare you to walk 300 feet in a crouching position.

The only thing wrong with the picture is the claim that the tendons would rip. They're actually built to handle incredible loads, especially the heel cord bears about 4 times your body weight when walking, and 8 times when you're jumping and landing on your toes. The problem with the furry in the picture is that if you increase the lenght of your foot three times to match the picture, you also increase the forces taken by the heel cord threefold, so the furry could not walk or run, much less jump, without sustaining a stress injury in a short order.

I mean, look at this picture. Is the muscle's force on the weight amplified or diminished by the lever?

Now, stand of the floor on your knees and toes, keep your thighs straight up vertical, and try to lever yourself up off the ground. Impossible.

You have to shift your weight backwards (reduce the lenght of the lever) until your center of gravity is very close to your ankles (the pivot point) before you are able to generate enough force to stand up.

This is why the furry in the picture cannot stand like that.

Here's the walking cycle animation. Notice how the shin bones never go horizontal except when they're bearing no weight. Even the T-rex with its massive musculature couldn't hold a crouching position like that for more than a brief moment.

No.3515045

>>3514206

The problem with the picture in this regard isn't the general concept. It's a somewhat odd position to couch in but it's doable. The big problem is how damned skinny her legs are. She should have some fairly substantial calf muscles. There's also the issue that she doesn't appear to have a heel bone at all, which would pose quite a problem in itself.

>>3514206

The diagram they made should be a warning that they are coming at this wrong. The math does end up being about right by chance, but along with them not seeming to know where insertion points are they grossly underestimate how much load muscles have to deal with and tendons can take. 3000N on the Achilles tendon isn't a problem.

While such a creature would see more force applied to it than a human in various activities, it would also follow that these parts would be more robust to match. They already vary among humans, depending upon if you use them a lot or not.

Funny story about that species. Adjot created an Eastern dragon character (as shown here https://www.furaffinity.net/view/6638290/ ) and Dog-bone/Rainbowjokerhound wanted to make a similar character. He told her to buzz off and she disregarded his wishes and made a species based off his character.

Now there are a bunch of these shitty knockoff dragons called 'felkins' thanks to Dogbone being an uppity cunt that won't take no for an answer.

>3000N on the Achilles tendon isn't a problem

Well, it is a problem if you're getting that just crouching still. If that creature was a human, starting to move would increase it by 4-8x relative to the static situation, but since it has an incredibly long foot it increases much more.

How much? 30 000 Newtons? 60 000 Newtons, at that point you're dealing with stresses that require steel cables to suspend.
