That's not fair, though. Their TMNT is probably the best set of comics that franchise has seen since the original Mirage run. Secret History of the Foot Clan was amazing.
I've heard good things about their G.I. Joe stuff as well, but I haven't read it.

Point is, they publish a lot of crap, but what comics publisher doesn't have an assortment of crap out there, from Marvel and DC with their awful events, to Image with their dozens of "books we only greenlighted because we hope they'll be turned into TV shows so we can cash in"
You have to look at the good stuff a publisher has too and judge based on that. (And if there IS no good stuff, then you've probably found Zenescope.)

The Trek characters are from a animated TV series from the early 70's, that used the characters we all knew, (except Chekhov,) and added two alien creatures, that three-armed guy on the bridge, and M'Ress, a cat alien from the "Caitian" species.

Star Trek tech is ludicrously powerful. On a kill setting, that phaser can vaporize a human being, which some bored scientists have calculated would require roughly 3 gigajoules of energy, or enough to completely melt 5,000 pounds of steel.

>>3525278

So is Cybertronian weaponry, and their entire bodies are designed to withstand some crazy firepower, even with loss of certain components or even limbs. Besides, TOS crew wielded weaker phasers that could -at best- vaporize a human-sized organism. Stronger weapons that could wreck buildings didn't show up until TNG era.

> On a kill setting, that phaser can vaporize a human being, which some bored scientists have calculated would require roughly 3 gigajoules of energy, or enough to completely melt 5,000 pounds of steel.

According to nerd wiki, phasers come in at 5 megajoules, some 1000 times less energy than that.

But even at that level, you're talking about an energy which is equivalent to exploding an anti-tank mine, and instead of simply vaporizing the person they should actually be exploding into a mist and knocking out everything within the radius of the blast. A phaser in reality would be equally dangerous to its user.

No.3526249

At the end of the day, it's all just bullshit pseudoscience thought up to give some half-assed explanation behind fancy visuals of a laser beam near-instantaneously burning a human being into a sparking mist. Like how ships in ST, despite their design being downright impractical for atmospheric flight, can still somehow achieve it.

It's best not to think of it too much when it comes to "how would this work in reality" because it's just gonna make your head hurt. Within realms of science fiction however, there's plenty of inconsistencies worth to discuss, like above mentioned "how come a giant robot that can shrug off a laser blast capable of blowing apart buildings can be critically damaged by a handgun that can at best vaporize a human".

No.3526258

>>3526249

>Within realms of science fiction however

...it's equally pointless to have the debate, because none of it fundamentally follows any logic. It's all literally just shaken out of a sleeve. Star trek weapons emit exotic radiation particles that pass through Transformers like a hot knife through butter. Good, next question?

The name "Leukemia" comes from a political shitposter who claimed to have terminal leukemia so "he doesn't care". The guy then "died" and came back to shitpost under different aliases, pseudonyms, and anonymously, but always identifiable by their subject matter and style.

So all IDW can do now without the strong SJW angle is... mediocrity. This is what happens when they fired their good writers long ago and now no one has a clue what to do to make a good story.

This isn't outright bad but it's not memorable or stand-out good either. It kind of blends in with the Trek cartoon most people forgot existed and a typical episode of a shitty 80s toy commercial I MEAN cartoon! I do't want to further offend some 80s kid who thinks these things were top quality animation!

And having lived through them the 80s cartoons were indeed a wasteland of toy commercials... some more so than other. Pretty much all cartoons based on toy lines are toy commercials but in the 80s they were particularly blatant about it...

99% of them on eBay are also China KOs with likely fake flash memory that holds 32MB actual space and reports a false capacity in your OS. The real ones sell for a fortune with both a useless amount of storage and if you want the toy there are better cheaper options and you are a manchild to boot.
