I did a thing. Struggling with anatomy as usual but I'm sick and tired of practice-drawing anatomy.

AI remote-controlled artificial anthro dragon body.
Goes by the name Asgeir.
His pronouns are fuck off.
Usually friendly and ready to help.
Forgot to draw the slit. General cone dick inside.
Gives good blowjobs in spite of toothy face :3

Gonna color this next month, after I finish something that I'm probably already in the red with in terms of deadline...

I'm still wondering if I should make him scaly and with hair + mane or fully fluffy.

Top set is UV spectrum camera. Mid is RGBW visible light camera. Bottom set had IR LED ring and infrared spectrum camera (can work as thermal vision). All have 4 types of subpixels with varying filters for different wavelengths (except the W subpixel, that's just there to increase sensitivity in low light.

would you like anything specifically highlighted on this figure, it's not bad just a bit unrefined. Things that stand out to me:

anthro head shapes are weird, and there are two main ways to go about them. You can give them long, thin human necks like your pic but if you do that, it's a good idea to give the figure a large, round cranium. I like to give my dog girls this, but they encounter the 'problem' of just having a nose that sticks way out in the air, which is kind of a style choice. The other way is to give them a bulky, reptilian/animal neck, which makes them more animal in appearance, and means you can minimize the cranium space for a more aggressive look.

This character has 6 eyes, and I can only notice two of them. Eyes don't have to be kawaii uguu huge, but the structure around them doesn't make any sense. The way an eye is set in the head is a very prominent part of the face. It requires an eyesocket, and eyebrow-ridge, there is a supporting cheek bone. I would recoment omiting the extra eyes, but f you did want to include them 1) they wouldn't have the standard eye shape, more of like a droplet shape, and 2) the skull would have a much less conventional shape to fit in extra eyes. You'd need to practice with that one to find a style that fits

Your proportions are fine, the left shoulder is busted but the anatomy is passable. I've only been practicing this recently (like within the last year) but drawing a figure with only lines and trying to capture the 3D space of where everything is takes a LOT of practice and focus to do. I could nit pick and say things like 'the hips are flat and the abs dont make sense, shoulder anatomy is wierd etc" but fundamentally its the 3D space that is not showing through. To do that you have to take into account relative proportions (hand shape relative to head for example) planar angles (how would say the 'block' of the hand float in 3D space) foreshortening (the left shoulder would be partially hidden behind the pass of the chest) and eventually things like composition (what is the silhouette of the figure) and dynamics (what makes a character standing more interesting to look at than a character standing)

You have a case of 'dough hands' or 'turkey hands' which I totally do too and try to minimize it. It's when you can't decide what the hands should be doing and dont really have a clear angle set so you just kind draw a mass for the palm and add some uniform curvy fingers. I use them for placeholders, but they do require some kind of dynamic to them.

Thanks :3

I'll def try fixing neck and head in the next pic of this char, and yeah I basically used the hair to cover up my neck mistakes xD

The problem is that I don't have the courage to venture into more feral-ish anatomy, so it's always some very anthro-ized stuff even though that may not be necessarily the furry dragon that I had in mind.

Multi-eyes are a must here and they have to have eyelids in order to be close-able. For this character at least. Though a couple more of chars I'm working on are artificial creatures so maybe I'll have more multi-eyed chars.

Yeah I don't know how to abs, guess it's back to anatomy practice then.

This is more or less a ref sheet-ish pic so bland pose is kinda a given, but I won't pretend to be good at poses (and hands). I guess I could cheat by posing a skeleton in 3dsmax next time but I'd rather learn it... which means ugh back to anatomy practice and copying from Jack Hamm books.

Feel free to give it a redline if you think that'd be a fun endeavour, but if you're too busy or got better things to do then just let it be. It's enough to tell where I need to work on already.

I have a .oe4 canvas playback file if you wanna have it btw.

But these characters struggle, They work jobs, they endure hardships. They live in a world they were born into that while the story itself may revolve around them because ... Ya know... thats kind'a of what stories tend to do, the world they live in doesn't. They're not these invincible heroes that has everything go their way.

Here a pretty simple picture of some fancy birb girls I drew a few weeks back.

I'm still in a phase were it takes me a long time to draw anything, and I generally just use pencil on paper, which is unfortunate since I have to erase and redraw a lot. I'm much less comfortable using digital stuff though so I don't plan on making the shift any time too soon.

Slowly redpilling myself on art school. This dude believes he will get into animation and get an art job with this work. He draws like a freshmen, has poor work ethic and lacks anything resembling talent. He also uses a projector to trace anytime the teacher wants sone thing slightly more complicated.

Since he's graduating, it made me think about what the hell art school even helps students. Essentially I'll end up on the same path I was going since school is not there to help you get a job, so what's the point of this? Is the work pictured here seriously worth hiring a person over?

I didn't imply all of them were bad. Art is a matter of taste, so I base my critique on individual practices and how they treat art

This pic is by a guy I call "the autistic brony writer who yells when he speaks". He sucks for a couple reasons:

1: He's in an upper division art class with pencil work and coloring of a guy in drawing 1
2: This is the only project he has finished, and only because it was made on tiny post card. He'd come to critique with shitty, unfinished pencil sketches
3: He worked rarely on his art and spend studio hours playing around. However, that shit happens with a lot of the other people.

To summarize: People suck because they don't put in any effort and expect to get rewarded for it. This guy cares so little for his art that he left it to get trashed.

On the other hand, this girl put a lot of time and effort into character generation (outside of the ones that look like Chinese knock-off moomins). It's the levels function. Crank that puppy up then adjust the contrast. It limits your color depth a little but if you want things super-bright without having to redo everything, there ya go.

>"nudge up the contrast to preserve detail"

No you moron, contrast just mashes the color values towards the ends of the scale, so you lose detail. Same thing as with your level adjustments where you utterly destroy any detail in the brighter areas of the picture, because using the levels tool like that is basically cropping the color information to a smaller bitdepth.

If you want to fuck around with the dynamic range of the picture, you use the Curves tool - the contrast/brightness tool is basically useless for all purposes and the Levels tool is mainly for intentionally clipping the levels e.g. when you do want to blow out your whites on a scanned document or doing whitebox photography etc.

Yeah, that is true. You can lose detail like this and have blow out areas of brightness like the cup. That's why I suggest adjustment layers. They come with a clipping mask built in so you can mask out the effects of the layer in specific areas.

>That's why I suggest adjustment layers.

Or, you could use the right tool for the job and just use Curves.

https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/photoshop-curves.htm

Levels is only useful for normalizing under-exposed images or clipping the brightness value. The Curves tool actually works the same way, but it allows you to shift the tone ranges around without clipping the black or white end - unless you want to.

Oh, and also do try to make all color corrections in 16 bit LAB mode. RGB if you must, but RGB produces slightly wrong results because of gamma correction and because Photoshop is converting to a different color mode internally anyways whenever you use any of these tools. All the color adjustment tools work more consistently and more logically (correctly) under LAB (HSL).

If you're adjusting your tones under 8-bit RGB, you're butchering the color values by rounding errors, which shows up in the histogram and causes you later trouble when editing because it basically fucks up your gradients and causes banding and fringing, so further adjustments simply degrade the picture more and more until it's just a mess. Pulling back from 16-bit to 8-bit, Photoshop dithers the color values so it's perceptually correct and the banding/fringing effects are diminished.

Protip: when adjusting levels in Photoshop, press and hold the ALT key while dragging the sliders. It shows you if any area of the picture is clipping.

Another protip: check that your monitor color space is correct in the settings. If your monitor is well calibrated, use unmanaged color spaces so Photoshop won't try to "correct" what's already correct. Otherwise it'll change the appearance of the image you're trying to load up, and then you save it back

No.3510334

>>3510333
Also on that point: there's calibration and calibration

  1. calibration of the monitor is done at the factory or in some monitors via the on-screen menus, or in pro-monitors by uploading new config files into the firmware. This makes the monitor itself match some well defined color space - usually sRGB.
  2. Calibration of the monitor at the OS level - this is actually not calibration but color profiling. By using some software/hardware tool you create a file that tells Photoshop how much off the monitor is from some standard color space, usually sRGB, so Photoshop can then attempt to show the colors as if your monitor was following the standard.

If your monitor itself is calibrated well, you can select the standard sRGB working space, and use no further color management (except when dealing with files created for other color spaces). If your monitor is not well calibrated, but you've "calibrated" it (you have a profile file, made by you or provided by the manufacturer) then you may choose to allow Photoshop to mess up with the colors, but be aware that this makes the colors show up as they would on an "ideal" monitor, and the files you create actually will look different in your other applications such as in your web browser, unless they too apply the monitor profile!

But then I did the rest of it (the whole back) in about 1hr. Would have looked better if I had a more detailed mesh, but next time I'll try to work within the limitations with more skill.

Sorry, I didn't mean that as an insult. It's just... I dunno, thought you were being influenced too much rather than developing your own original characters - especially since you're using Polybius as a fursona. But I see where you're coming from. After all, Rick & Morty was itself derivative of Back to the Future, so there's that.

Having said that... that group of cat Ricks in >>3511595 sounds pretty similar to the original Roxikat comic, mentioned in http://web.archive.org/web/20090405150516/home.comcast.net/~johnmbarrett/profilepage.htm. That's a co-incidence, right?

That's the one Roxikat portfolio I've always wanted to see but it continues to elude me. I've asked John to post it on his Fur Affinity before but he says he doesn't have scans for it. Does anyone here have any?

This is doodle I did on the computer awhile back... then ended up deleting out of shame.

I parody of Elmo's world.

>>3511889 This a coloring of a line work that... I dunno... I just felt inclined to color because it wasn't colored... & I felt like it should be & that it would be good coloring experience.

Then after I posted it .... John said he wasn't a fan of recolors, that is was sloppy and that he didn't like &. .. I just... felt really bad for doing it.

>>3511897 Haha, I remember that one - I thought it was really charming, but I didn't want to post it here without your permission.

Hmm... think we need a new art thread - this one's stopped bumping.

He seemed to like the colorizations I did of his old sketches(Or at least that's what he told me.)
