I'd disagree - if the artist hosts content off-site and passes the link/password through messages, you won't get the actual stuff off yiff.party
But it's damn useful as first step - a lot of artists either post everything worthwhile to Patreon or don't post anything worthwhile - neither to Patreon nor off-site. Before you post a request in the paywall thread, check - 1. Do you need to? 2. Do you want to?
Like, shit. I liked a lot of pics by RevaDieHard available on e261.net - ignoring the occasional hyper/vore/guro bullshit. I considered Patreon for more of the nice stuff. Then I check on yiff.party and... it's overflowing with the bullshit. Cocks bigger than the characters, balls the size of trucks, and nearly none of the nice "normal" art. Asking for patreon dump in a thread would be a biiig disappointment.
Another case: Vavacung. Occasionally, in the past, he would post "naughty spin-off" strips of his comics - long after posting them on patreon. None of that recently - so does he have a backlog of these? Nope, he just stopped making them. Again, would be a disappointment.
Checked shinigamigirl. Used to love her art, then she nearly ceased to post in public, all paywalled... she made it a fucking corporation around Patreon. Need $1 to see all the teasers, pay more if you want actual access, of course everything off-site, but the teasers were enough to tell me her style and subjects shifted so far from the early days, I'm no longer interested.
BaronEngel? Some new cool art, nice - but he doesn't draw outright porn, period. Not in public, not on Patreon.
In short: it's a useful, helpful service, but doesn't make the threads redundant.
