Looks like Andy Antelope / a bunch of other names over the years took his own life in 2011.

This guy was prone to months to year long disappearances and deleting everything when he did, so no one was alarmed he'd been gone for more then many years.

All of my yes.
I...think I may have seen this guys art before, but I'm not sure. Its a shame he removed so much...moreover because he's an older artist, makes it harder to find stuff. Then when they die...there isn't much left, not even the memory of the art cause they removed so much.

What was his FA handle? Dude had to have had a dirty gallery somewhere.

all premature death is terrible, but suicide is especially sad in some ways. I had an uncle in law that killed himself, it devastated his family and to this day there is still allot of hard feelings because people blame each other for it

That sucks.
I really like this guy's style. Cartoony and drawn traditionally, a rare sight these days. Cute characters and casual nudity, he seemed to like drawing people bottomless. I like that he could draw nice, detailed backgrounds and even vehicles.

It's a bit jarring to think that he has been dead since 2011, and within the last few days his AndyAntelope IB has received several fresh condolence/rip shouts. He's been dead for almost seven years, and people are just now finding out about it. It's a shame he killed himself, and so little of his art remains online. Who knows what drawings and comics went unscanned; there are various comics unfinished on his AA IB.

"But the disastrous Tuesday, September 11, 2001, arrived. The attack on the Twin Towers made a great impression on Miguel when he saw one of the towers where he worked fall to the ground, losing his computer and a lot of his work. Yes, Miguel worked at the World Trade Center. It was the fortune that made him fall asleep and arrive late that day. He saw the collapse from the train that was taking him to his destination."

I would have thought narrowly missing the 9/11 attacks would make someone grateful to be alive...and all those years later, he still killed himself.

https://m-estrugo.livejournal.com/4956.html

"On the other hand, this made me realize that, in any moment, by any cause, we can lose all those things we've got for granted. You see, I'm typing here this text on the keyboard. I've got total control over my sphincter. I can walk, go upstairs and downstairs, I can speak, draw, do whatever I want. And I consider it's something normal so I'm used to it. And don't realize on how fragile, how precarious all of what I've got is. A little trauma, either inner and outer, could whisk all my memories away in a matter of seconds. Or I could just lose my sight, or my ability to speak. Or I could just lose command on my limbs. Not only my life is fragile (something I learned when I lost my father in December, 1999), but the QUALITY of my life is, too."

He comes off as very well worded. It's too bad things ended the way they did.

>>3502451 I didn't know he even lived in the USA. I knew he was born in Spain and I thought he was still living there. I talked to him online a few times and his grasp of English was pretty good but once in a great while he'd mess up some 'common but not very common' word. -- I knew another ESL person like that. You'd talk with him for years and he'd sound just like a native but one day you hit that one semi-common word he never heard of before and he'd be like, "Chamber? What's a chamber?"

>>3503306 Also the new board, while it's pretty stable, needs some improvements before the shift can be made. In particular:

>The name of the poster reads "Anonymous" when it's supposed to be a randomly generated name. Many of the names are fun & goofy.
The random name feature is part of the thing that separates our board from others & it's an integral part of /furi/ culture.

>There's also the matter if that God aweful green color on the names and Tripcodes that just does not read well with blueish color on thread posts.

>lastly there's the matter our eerie visual capture system, that randomly generates a wordish series of letters that are, surprisingly often, relevant to the subject, tone or mood of the poster. It's another integral part of /furi/ culture.

Now ... why these changes have not been implemented into the dev board yet is beyond me. While I'm sure a lot of it may simply be cho0b being a procrastinating Polly, a Stoner Steve &or a Slacker Slade. You have to understand cho0b is in deep with Anon. I think I even saw him in doing an interview in documentary about Anon. He's doing a lot of important Anon stuff, that likely consumes a great deal of his time. There was a time... when I wasn't so fond of Anonymous, Largely due in part of their treatment of furries... but... I'd take Anon ANY DAY over Antifa. At least Anon has substance, a sense humor, a mystique, a style. Antifa ... just seem like a bunch of marxist crypto fash Zombie kids.

Wow... Fascinating. First time I ever saw this site talk about a dead furry artist, and without it getting anywhere near 1%, talk smack about him. Jeeze. One could almost suspect some humanity in you.

There is a point between sober and drunk where in vino veritas becomes in vino bullshit. Goddamn if that point isn't hard to hit.

After reading the Alice Otter strips posted thus far, here is my take on the comic...
The artwork is well constructed, the backgrounds and things like cars are drawn well and little details are sprinkled here and there that I can appreciate. The characters and settings complement each other very nicely. The character designs are simple, cute, and well put together. If I had to give the artwork one small negative, its that I think the size of the eyes on characters like Alice could have been made a little smaller. They are a glaring feature and they stand out, and I think in this case "less is more"...the designs would have worked better reducing the eye size.

The weakest things about Alice Otter are the dialogue, writing, and overall basis of the story. I know that Miguel wasn't a native English speaker, so some forgiveness is granted with regards to the speech of characters. But I find the strip to be very mediocre plot wise. For a guy who was in his early 30s at the time the comic started, native English speaker or not, I would have expected something a little bit stronger than a story about a little girl wanting to go to Hawaii. And the entire thing starts because she wants to upstage the rich snobby girl and it gets into a betting game. I would have expected a story like this from a much younger person, not an adult man. I know its going for that family friendly fun vibe and the comic is very light-hearted and innocent in its presentation. However, it doesn't excuse the fact that the story just isn't woven "tight" enough and overall its not written very well. Unlike his artwork, the story misses alot of details and doesn't flow very well. Character personalities are a tad shallow and their dialogue is at times choppy and like the story, doesn't flow very well. Many of the strips are lackluster in this regard. It's a newspaper styled comic strip without any of the comedic punch that a newspaper comic strip usually delivers. The last panel should be the "big payoff" where the joke (building in the previous panels) hits. I didn't find any of the strips particularly funny. I know a joke is there...somewhere, but its fumbled with bad pacing and/or bad writing and dialogue. The comic itself starts as if I've missed the first few strips. I feel as if me, the reader/viewer, arrived late and missed the first ten minutes of the story. The first comic plops right down in Alice's "slice of life" and you, the reader, better have read the "characters bio" page first, because some details are not told outright. The same goes with the characters themselves...no smooth transition, characters just appear splattered everywhere.

I know I am being overly critical, but when Miguel was writing this, I bet he thought in his head he was writing the hottest shit. That is the problem with several furry comics...you got an artist with talent, but the stories they try and tell are not very relatable or believable. When writing a comic like this, a part of you has to put yourself in the mind of the reader. You may know your characters and your setting well, and where you want to take the story - but the reader doesn't know any of that until its presented to them, they are not in your head. If you don't convey certain things in your story to the other brain reading it, its going to come off as poorly conceived and more often than not full of plot holes. Its a shame when the artwork is good but the story can't compete. I feel as if someone could "re-dub" the entire comic posted here thus far, and probably do a better job. A good script will work wonders with the right art. Its too bad Miguel didn't team up with a capable writer, Alice Otter showed alot of potential and could have been much bigger than it was. But he was very slow on updating it from what I have learned, and then he committed suicide which didn't help matters as it left the comic unfinished and offline, with now possible missing strips. I don't know if anyone else saved the comic, but I feel it never got alot of traction back in its day and is now largely forgotten these days among the large crop of furry web comics. Its a small footnote in furry history, which is unfortunate, as the artwork is very worthy of being noticed and brought to new generations, if for no other purpose than to show how to properly illustrate a comic.
