So this is what happened.

Apparently, there had been a spam surge that morning. The staff deleted the lot as fast as they could.

It eventually stopped. However, in the aftermath, unfortunately, it took out some nearby posts along with it.

So if some your threads or post were removed as well about that time, that probably had something to do with it.

>exploit moderator incompetence

This so much.
First off, we lost the back five pages. Some shit back there I had been meaning to save, and since this place moves like a slug, I thought I had time because I was busy. But now its gone. Alot of the threads there wouldn't have been that far back there if mods had REMOVED, not anchored, all the bullshit slowspam brought forth by the person masquerading around as Hirtes. He filled up about 3 pages worth of clickbait headlines and no-one-cares drama jumpstart threads, which allowed things to get pushed back farther. When the spam hit, these threads were lost. If the HNN spam had been removed, these threads may have had a higher chance of survival. But again, staff here fumble with the basics as they did with Brave's slow spam. Just leave it pile up, and no one really cares. Anchoring doesn't do anything but leave shitty content on a board that is struggling to find an audience these days. HNN nigger wasn't an issue years ago, but he stands out now because so many people are gone.

Secondly, more than half of the site that is left is completely fucked because you idiots still use that delete all button, which is buggy, and now tons of threads here don't read properly anymore because so many other posts are missing from the threads still up. I mean JFC does it really take you that much longer to look through pages individually and delete starter thread spam vs just blindly hitting the big red nuke all button? Sure, this place has had many factors contribute to its death as an active imageboard in recent years, but its becoming more and more apparent that staff incompetence is also part of the problem. Why waste my time producing/posting content for a site when I can't make a safe bet that the thread I made will still be there when I wake up next morning, or even a week from then? People won't bother, they will leave and not come back. I am so fuckin tired of this place fuckin up, I always gave you the benefit of the doubt you'd recover /furi/, but you're just falling apart as the years pass and your purpose as an imageboard is sorely displaced in an age of 4chans /trash/ and social media being the place where rapid-fire drama goes to play.

The last chance this place had was the dev board, and we are slowly coming up on a year since Choob fired it up and promptly stalled the fuckin thing like a teenager learning to drive a stickshift. He doesn't give enough of a shit to get it going, because its not 2009 anymore and this place is all used up.

All you have to do to fight this "slowspam" is to post in the threads once a week or two.

>these threads may have had a higher chance of survival

Who the fuck cares? Make a new one.

>leave shitty content on a board that is struggling to find an audience these days

That's an exact description of the threads you want to save. Why? Because they can't survive a "spam" where someone makes two new threads a day.

>contribute to its death as an active imageboard

The main thing that contributes to its death as an active imageboard is people like you who piss and moan over threads that nobody else wants to keep around. The "slowspam" is literally more interesting because at least people get to sling shit. Keeping the same months-old threads on the first page just drives people away because they can see the board is not moving and it's just the same two guys still jerking each other.

An imageboard is almost like the conversation you have around the coffee table in the morning. Nobody (except you guys) demand the conversation to stick to the same topics for day after week after month.

You know the board has gotten boring when nobody talks about anything new, and you also know the company has gotten downright cancerous when you got people like >>3501892 trying to shoot down any new discussion openers and demanding old shit to be dug up and kept on the table for eternity.

If you want to have a forum discussion, go to an actual forum. If you want to have a livejournal, set up a tumblr or some blog. If you're demanding your threads to remain up, you're misunderstanding the whole idea of imageboards and should go somewhere else.

Your ID is becoming more noticeable.

>Who the fuck cares? Make a new one.

Not the point. With the slow turnaround this place has these days with regards to activity, it may take a month or five for 'x' user to come back and repost the content that was lost (say if I were looking for something specific that was posted here before). Notice how people here are posting threads looking for 'x' image, but no one replies to them because those users hardly visit the site anymore? An image board with a populace of less than 30 regular users is a fragile thing, and mods fucking shit up is just going to confirm that investing time into this place is a completely wasted effort. Alot of people realized this, alot left, now leaving some of the worst here to spam up the board with bullshit since hardly anyone really talks about furry stuff here anymore. Its overshadowed by all you cunt Americans whining about your leader.

>That's an exact description of the threads you want to save.

You don't know what threads I wanted to save, so that is an assumed statement. But I can tell you this much, it wasn't /pol/ spam or clickbait news shit.

>Because they can't survive a "spam" where someone makes two new threads a day.

The recent spam wave wasn't "two threads per day", nice try trying to rationalize it, though.

>The main thing that contributes to its death as an active imageboard is people like you who piss and moan over threads that nobody else wants to keep around.

Oh, it surely can't be mods removing shit they shouldn't be removing, right? Surely can't be the broken window effect of "well, this place is shit, might as well shit it up even more" of non-stop /pol/ shit and slow spam that gets anchored instead of removed. Image board death occurs when people leave. People realize there's no point in making new threads anymore because there is an audience of zero, they lurk and eventually leave, and bam, you have nothing but static. Other factors were the year long CP issue, and this board sorely lacking behind modern image board standards. This board looks exactly the same as it did ten years ago, for fuck sakes.

>The "slowspam" is literally more interesting because at least people get to sling shit.

That is some ass-backwards logic.

>If you want to set up a blog, go to myspace or something. That's not what imageboards are about.

I didn't know they were about your thread only lasting for a few hours, on THIS site, that has 30 pages and whose "time to sage off the board" time increases every year, because less people are posting here. First time ever I've seen threads that were started in December 2017 still linger on the back-pages in fuckin March and April - 3-4 months! Next year shit from June of this year will still be here, as more and more people exit stage left and less new threads are created.

>>3502138

>Hell on 4chan you make a thread, go to get some coffee and come back it could be gone.

Yes, because that place is active. This place isn't. So a thread should be able to last by current standards for three months. Not three days or three hours.

>should be what measures could be put in place to prevent it.

Tell staff to stop using the big buggy nuke button and put some effort into their jobs here, and delete shit manually. Its not hard!

>and you also know the company has gotten downright cancerous when you got people like >>3501892 trying to shoot down any new discussion openers and demanding old shit to be dug up and kept on the table for eternity.

I'm not shooting down new topics. I am shooting down (slow)spam, and pissed that the mods fucked up over half the site by using that nuke button. This is at least the second or third time its happened on a large scale within the last year and a half.

>If you want to have a forum discussion, go to an actual forum. If you want to have a livejournal, set up a tumblr or some blog. If you're demanding your threads to remain up, you're misunderstanding the whole idea of imageboards and should go somewhere else.
>go to myspace or something.

You are still stuck in the Internet of years ago when forums were active and Livejournal was the pinnacle of social media. And when boards were smaller and yes, threads moved off fast because they were active with users posting and the board maybe only had 10 to 15 pages. You are stuck thinking that boards are still like that, but they have changed like anything else. More board pages, longer bump limits, catalogs, archives, etc.. And in some cases, delcining visitor count, which has lead to threads lasting longer than you think they should. There is no reason a good thread should die sooner then it needs to, if people still want to talk about the subject/topic. However its threatened when spam comes calling, and when mods do not take proper actions.

User levels will wax and wane. What's kept lulz.net around is that despite whatever narrative is being pushed at any given time, essentially we're all humans & we all want freedom. Places that allow you to say what you need to say may not be the "hip" in thing right now, but it will always attract people. I've seen so many threads about literal dead boards, yet somehow we're still here.

I mean you don't have to be a giant hamburger tycoon to keep your restaurant open. You simply have to constantly provide the public with something there's a consistent demand for. You don't have to have 4chantier traffic in order to maintain a consistent following of users. I remember even when I first started posting here people there was the lulz is dying, why bother even coming here, and how any day the whole site would just shut down forever, how it's all doomed, Little Debby Downer rhetoric.

But despite that, the market demand for free expression has kept us here. So I'm not particularly worried about "the death of /furi/". Especially as it's something that is becoming increasingly rare. I think we're going to see an increased demand at some point as the supply declines. Furries are a very diverse group of people and there are always going to those furs who are maybe a little critical of the fandom.

No one likes to be criticized but if we're never corrected on anything, we don't improve anything. If I'm overcooking the Hamburgers and no one tells me, people are just going to keep getting tough patties until someone says something. The mods should be criticized. But unlike a lot of places, you're actually allowed to do that here. It's almost encouraged.

That's just something I haven't seen anywhere else & have a lot of respect for that.

Well... I did it!

(nb4 no1cur YEAH I've heard it already. Suck my ballz.)

It took me long enough but I overcame my depression. I can officially say I feel great and I'm longer depressed. Depression can usually be traced back in most cases to a chemical imbalance. In many cases when nothing seems to be wrong per say, the imbalance can be caused by certain environmental factors.

If you really want to overcome it, you have to believe that you can. I figured out this much.

  1. (as I've already explained but was deleted) Working inside with the lack of sunlight and monotony doing the same kind of job every day part of it.
  2. The other part being that on my Construction job, which I normally do pretty well at, I was working with my stepdad. Though I have mad respect for the guy & look up to him, he's kind'a gruff and working with him every day with the regular berating would leave me coming home with a rather bruised ego.

So upon coming home, I'd have to make myself feel better. So, I'd work out, Draw, clean, work on math problems & do things that made me feel better about myself. So in a sense, it's kind of a good thing he was kind'a hard on me. Although the process of the work itself was the same, every new job was a different location that provided different challenges as well a change of scenery.

Although I'm glad that my employers and co-workers don't talk down to me & do appreciate me, when I come home, I don't have the same bruised ego that needs immediate repair thus leading to a lack of motivation. When I'd come home, I'd just be glad to be home & pretty much just sit on my ass.

By identifying the factors I can now move forward. Yesterday and today & instead of sitting on my ass, I put on some fun fast passed music & cleaned out my room, reorganized my belongings, got a secondary shelf, got a replacement for the cord I needed to hook up the printer/ scanner got some painting done & Moved forward on the Polybius Rick project & I'm particularly pleased because in the process I found one of my old hard drives.

While in some cases certain chemical stimulates such as Prozac can be helpful. It's important only to use them temporarily & sparingly just to get you over that last hump. Forming any kind of chemical dependency can often do more harm in the long run than good.

But why tell you all this? Because depression is a common problem that is often easier fixed than people think. You CAN beat it! And hopefully, this might prove helpful for others to overcome their depression.

I feel like I'm waking up out of a dream.

Ya know those dreams that seem so real, but when ya realize you are in fact in a dream you try to keep trying wake yourself up over and over again only to enter into another dream?

But... each time you run through the cycle.... you feel yourself getting that much closer & eventually you DO wake up? Have you ever had one have one of those?

Listen /furi/ ... I know I'm just some guy... okay... Just another mixed up furry in a confused and divided world. I've accepted that... But here's thing... I'm ALIVE. I have a brain, I have a body, a job, I have goals, I have friends both on and off line, and I have things worth living for. See some people live their lives thinking that this is the Modern Era & history has already happened... But in reality, WE are the ones who make history & generations from now the future will back on the world were in now. SO ... Why not take enough pride in ourselves NOW to contribute to the present?

You woke me up /furi/ ... you showed me that I have value... but that this value won't amount to a hill of beans, it will never be recognized on any significant scale until I get off my ass and fix myself & make something of my life. It's the fact you never spare any one's feelings... You say what you feel needs to be said & that kind of honesty has value. But that kind of honesty ALSO scares people who are afraid of the Truth. It's why it's important we stick around.

I know my life is a mess... I know my progress has been painfully slow but hey... It's up to me & me alone to clean it up. I knew when I discovered the Furry Fandom I found something that was worth being a part of. It wasn't easy & I've had a lot of good times and some not so good times, but only until I started posting here did I actually feel connected to it. I feel you & me are trying to wake up from the same dream, but we're getting there...

This one seen here. >>3501289 which I'm grateful someone screen capped.

I posted it when I was going through a heavy depressive period. It made me feel better to talk about it. If only to honor those feelings and let them go. I want people to know that it is beatable.

What I've been doing tonight are all those things I normally set aside to later as they are seen as work. Doing these things reminding myself that "Yeah... this isn't that hard." When I do start slipping I do not beat myself up over it merely remind myself there better uses of my time. Lifting regularly, eating healthier foods.

Accomplishing these small but necessary tasks & chores provide a euphoric sense of satisfaction. What led to these tasks being completed was making getting into the habit that when I reached for immediate pleasures/comforts/vices, to take one step back & ask "is there something useful I can do to before I do this?"

This is what has got me over those final humps. My chemicals have balanced once again.
