Thanks to a newcomer to the lulz team, the share board will be returning sometime (soon? not 100% sure) but not as it was before. Our idea is to make it like 4chan's rapidshare board (http://rs.4chan.org/) only it will rely solely on users to directly add the URLS and information to the board (4chan's script searches the boards for links and automagically adds them.)

This means that there will be no images added directly to the share board, nor will there be a means of discussing the files on the share board. There will be a way for users to report malicious content (such as a virus or child pornography.)

The content of the new share board will not be limited to furry art, but it is assumed that this will be the main theme among posts.

Will there still be a place to make requests for content from xyz?

Will not "no place to post" make problems for people finding completly new stuff of stuff that they dont know it's names?

That kind of board is only as good as keywords you know to search for, but well see top 3 toppics "seach like" here are dreamkeepers and pleasure bon bon, for example if someone does not know it's names he/she will not type it in search

Yeah you could say IRC. I imagine n people asking for a particular stuff every 1 min, and all comments will be erased automaticly after lest say 30 min. It is not good either imo

Thinking about it it is odd that problem was only with share not all. They are on same server. Boards look same also. The only difrence share board had 2-3 times more toppics than any of other boards, and image board is toppic limitted. In # of toppics, once it goes over page 19 bye bye. It must have reached it's limit in # of toppics/post to keep track or it was only to make space or server hdd, if files were not changed at random that is.

I still say a forum would be moreeasy. Both to maintain (since there are a lot of forrums to look for info about some problems if they happen like phpBB tech forum on their own site ir invisionboard) and easy for people to post and other.

They are only here becouse share board is down for so long time.
And instead share board fixed it will be changed to non-topic, non-release name track, non-request automated list of uploads.

also i think you may have misunderstood some of what i said about what the new share will be. it will not be automated. users will be adding the entries to the 'board' and there will be labels along with a description of what each download link is for.

Let it be similar to 4chan's RS, but maybe incorporate a tag system like rule34's. Maybe add something so the distributor can add some info about what he's sharing.

Honestly though, I really liked the format of the old /share/ though.

Also i hope reporting malicious content will not be tied to host where the file/s are hosted becouse they dont check it and delete files in most cases, and will be check'ed for false positives made by propobly in most cases (evil) people (artists) that made files and dont want the contend to be shared. And we dont want that to happen. Now dont we? ;)

i liked the old /share/ board
only problem i had with it was multiple threads for the same artist/site/cds. a search feature would stop all those duplicate boards (or Ctrl+F on the subback page(lazy bums))

just get rid of the default /share/ and just use the subback page

What about a way to add a brief description of the file? Most names (rapidshare wise) dont seem to always spell out what is in the file...

In .zip's you can add "archive comment". The question is if people are aware of it and if they will check them

Anyway. It is taking too long. If new board is not made/started at all then bring back old one, propobly will be clean at first but it is BETTER than NOTHING
